NICE ACD

NICE is minded not to recommend rivaroxaban for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and prevention of recurrent DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE)

NICE have announced that there is an appraisal consultation document (ACD) available for comment.

What does this mean?

This means that the Technology Appraisal Committee has met and produced draft guidance. This draft is now available for ANYONE to comment on. The ACD currently does not recommend the use of rivaoxaban for this treatment and NICE would need to hear the views of commissioners responsible for funding and implementing this guidance, before making a final determination.

Please do consider what the effect on your PCT would be if NICE were to change these recommendations. It is not uncommon for the final guidance to change after the ACD.

If you agree with these recommendations it is important that you let NICE know this. Please include a comment on the services that you might be forced to reduce in order to fund this technology if it were later to be approved for use as described in this ACD.

Please take a few moments to return your comments, using separate headings for the ACD and Evaluation Report.

Download the ACD and Evaluation Report.

The ACD Commentary produced by CSAS is available on the PCT Resources Log-in area.

The deadline for submissions to NICE is 5pm on 3 April 2012 in time for inclusion at the second appraisal committee meeting on 17 April 2012.

The NICE process only allows for submission of comments from non-PCT consultees via their website.
