Health Intelligence
The National Obesity Observatory was established to provide a single point of contact for wide-ranging authoritative information on data and evidence related to obesity, overweight, underweight and their determinants.

The Drug Treatment Monitoring Unit (DTMU) is one of nine National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) regional centres across England. DTMU are hosted by the South East Public Health Observatory (SEPHO), in Oxford.

Through the Chemotherapy Intelligence Unit, we are working towards the creation and implementation of a national repository for cancer chemotherapy data for England – commissioned by the National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN). The delivery team will be collaborating closely with the cancer networks, and chemotherapy treatment units in England to develop the database.
The Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit (OCIU) was established in 1993, although the Oxford Cancer Registry has been operating since 1952. OCIU works with national and local stakeholders to improve the quality of cancer care and outcomes.

We provide access to public health information in the region and publish a range of reports and toolkits. We support and monitor local action to improve public health. SEPHO incorporates the South East Drug Treatment Monitoring Unit (DTMU) and the Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit (OCIU).

Health Profiles give a snapshot overview of health for each local authority and region in England. They are designed to help local government and health services make decisions and plans to improve local people's health and reduce health inequalities. The profiles present a set of key health indicators that show how the area compares to the national and regional average.

Workforce Development
PHORCaST is a UK-wide website currently aimed at those working within public health, those wishing to enter public health and those responsible for public health education, development, training, planning and providing careers advice to the public health workforce. It aims to promote public health careers for the entire public health workforce in the UK, and in particular, to aid recruitment and retention.

Screening
We have provided Quality Assurance support to breast and cervical cancer screening programmes for more than a decade. We work with commissioners and service providers on behalf of NHS South Central to ensure local screening programmes are in line with national policy and standards and that quality is continuing to improve.

Commissioning
The Commissioning Support Appraisals Service (CSAS) was established to help ensure that PCTs are active and effective consultees, whose contribution to the NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance (TAG) is respected and credible.
