Developing capability

In order to deliver public health services to the right people at the right time and in the best way to reduce health inequalities and improve and protect health, it is essential to plan an effective workforce for public health. This includes maximising the contribution of not only the professional public health workforce of specialists and practitioners but also those who can have an impact on health in their day to day work such as local authority urban planners, PCT chief executives, volunteers in the third sector.

How SPH can help

We help teams and organisations shape their public health contribution to meet their strategic goals including developing frameworks for establishing organisations as public health entities.

Our workforce development team helps individuals, teams and organisations review and assess their service pathways and advise on redesign and restructure of their workforce.

Using a range of tools and resources, we work with organisations to develop sound recruitment, retention and development plans.
