The need for evidence
Healthcare decision makers responsible for delivering the QIPP agenda will continue to make funding decisions about specific treatments where NICE guidance is not available. Not only will decisions need to be made on whether to fund new treatment options, but also on decommissioning those treatments shown to be of less or no proven benefit. It is vital that decisions are backed up by ethical and robust processes and an independent review of the clinical evidence base.
EVIDENCE PLUS offers a tried-and-tested rapid evidence review service - providing healthcare decision makers with tailored options grounded in the available evidence. The service will help you design and implement robust processes around setting clinical priorities, consult with your local clinicians and other stakeholders, evaluate policy implementation and provide training to key stakeholders on approaches to setting clinical priorities.
EVIDENCE PLUS provides a pragmatic solution to your commissioning questions:
- Framing and scoping questions to provide precise and robust answers to commissioning or providing issues
- Synthesising evidence for specific interventions as well as whole care pathways Authoring robust, defensible reviews with worked up options - modelled to the local context of activiity and costs
- Engagement with local clinicians in the policy development process, including consultation with clinicians and presentation at formal meetings
- Defending reviews against potential challenge from clinician groups where necessary and appropriate
- Developing ethical frameworks for decision-making which will withstand judicial review
- Training sessions in evidence-based deicision making for stakeholders
